Puerta 1, Los Pinos

Puerta 1 to the Los Pinos Cultural Complex is important for a couple of good reasons. Number one, it’s the closest park access to Metro Constituyentes. That makes it an important alternative to the other entry ways to Chapultepec’s first (and biggest) section.

The gateway area is also a stop on the seasonal Capital Bus route to Santa Fe. Although it only runs during high tourism seasons, it can get crowded, and for international visitors staying in San Miguel Chapultepec or even in the Condesa-Roma areas, it can be an important boarding point. Buses here are arriving from El Ángel on Paseo de la Reforma. They stop just briefly on Molino del Rey immediately outside of the Puerta 1 iron gateways. Buses then continue on a long journey of shopping and fun in Santa Fe to the City’s west.

Puerta 1 is one of three entryways to the park. It’s the southernmost and likely the least used. The others are north and east of here. The east entryway (Puerta 3) is only accessed by crossing the entirety of Chapultepec section 1. Puerta 2 is just north of here, and is probably the most heavily used entrance in part because it’s convenient to buses and auto traffiic.

As an alternative entrance to the rest of Chapultepec, it’s very well-located and one avoids the crowds coming from Metro Chapultepec and the Reforma corridor. This is important for those taking part in the ongoing and always popular events within the Los Pinos complex. It’s a vital part of the City, and an increasingly vibrant part of the culture of the entire country.
