The Centro Cultural La Pirámide is usually referred to simply as The Pyramid. A cultural space, it’s very much a community center, too. Residents of the area, and many from further afield, dedicate themselves here to the production, promotion, and enjoyment of art and culture. Exercising cultural rights of the community in general is more and more important in trying times. They all converge at the Pyramid.

For international visitors, the Pyramid is primarily a place of interest because you can walk into what is normally a dynamic, locally produced art exhibition. The 20-year legacy of the center has been crystalized in independently curated and envisioned exhibitions.

The cultural cooperative now running the space is the Cooperativa La Pirámide, Arte, Cultura y Ecología. This came about in 2016 as a collective of artists, promoters, and local cultural managers. The schedule, continually updated on Facebook, means that participants get free access to:

  • Dance workshops;
  • Musical workshops;
  • Graphic and visual arts activities;
  • Green environmental workshops;
  • Kid’s workshops;
  • Theater and acting workshops, and;
  • Physical conditioning.

The Pyramid is so beloved because San Pedro de Los Pinos residents get access to a dance hall, amphitheater, indoor theater, green areas that include gardens, and urban agriculture areas, ceramics studio and a cafeteria, further promoting a wide variety of artistic expression to the neighborhood.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
