The Portal Vallejo is a small neighborhood shopping center. In the San Francisco Xocotitla neighborhood, its part of the expanding Lindavista/northern Mexico City shopping district. The shopping center faces the Calzada Vallejo.
With a Cinemex movie theater and a Sanborns as anchors, the center includes a few other small shops and eateries. Portal Vallejo is also an important part of the La Raza area. It’s barely a block north of the giant La Raza medical complex. The important intersection of Circuito Interior and the Avenida Insurgentes Norte is a few hundred meters down the same street. The La Raza Monument is within that intersection. It lends its name to the entire area.
Opened in 2016, the shopping center has been broadly interpreted as a sign of the post-industrial Vallejo area. Having spent much of the 20th century in manufacturing, today its a vital and changing residential and services area.
