Plaza de los Arcángeles

The Plaza de los Arcángeles is a small city square in already hopelessly romantic San Ángel. Once a part of the San Jacinto Monastery, neighborhood residents had it renamed the Plaza del Orgullo Cívico only in 1969. It was heavily remodeled and redesigned at that time. With three stone benches, each dedicated to an archangel: St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael, it rather retains more of the older dedication.

The center of the garden boasts the small fountain (pictured) with a mosaic interior. The garden is surrounded by older and colonial-era homes and cobbled streets. The park is home to a considerable garden with planted areas set apart by low stone walls.

Just a few minutes walk from the San Ángel center, the Plaza de los Arcángeles is a must-visit for those in the neighborhood for the art market or flower festival. For those simply strolling the local streets, it’s precisely what you were hoping to stumble upon.
