The Iztacalco parks best known to the general public are those surrounding the giant Ciudad Deportiva. While the Ciudad is in reality a series of mass-spectator venues, one shouldn't assume they're all surrounded by massive asphalt parking lots.
In fact, the "Sports City" is known mostly to Mexico City residents as a series of playing fields and recreation areas. These take up nearly the entire north of Iztacalco.
In the neighborhoods, Iztacalco is punctuated by historic plazas and old church atriums. Dozens of other green areas keep residents moving and in touch with nature. We've listed some of the best here below.
