The Indios Verdes area has been known to generations of Mexico City residents. The end of the Metro in the north, it's a major transfer station to points in northeastern Mexico state and Hidalgo.
But Indios Verdes is historically part of the Tepeyac-centered communities surrounding the lower Sierra de Guadalupe. Among these are not just Zacatenco, but Tola, and Atzacoalco too. In short, the towns that preceded the present-day Basilica de Guadalupe.
