Galería L is a contemporary art gallery that focuses on emerging and consolidated artists. Work is selected from both Mexican nationals and artists from abroad. What sets the gallery apart is an inclination toward graphic works, and with a touch of design too.
The gallery has an extensive collection of works of contemporary pottery and 3-D works in clay. These seem to detract not in the slightest from the conversation happening about meaning, form, and style in the contemporary art world. It’s happening in the same space.
In fact, because of the dual posture of Galería L, the switch to a purely digital format during the 2020/21 pandemic may have actually been easier. A mainstay in the Condesa-Hipodromo art circuit, the gallery shown a strong sense of leadership. That’s been true in art events of the past, and during the important Gallery Weekend 2021 event.
The gallery’s in good company. The La Condesa and Hipodromo neighborhoods have historically been home to many of Mexico City’s strongest art and culture brokers. A walk around around any weekend shows off not just art and architecture, but culture in every form and function. Visits are richly rewarded. And repeat visits pay off too.
