The Embarcadero Las Flores Nativitas is one of three traditional piers along the Nativitas embankment. This one was founded in 1993. The others are Nuevo Nativitas and Zacapa. The three have shared the same stretch of bank, and for all that, you get the same access to the crafts market and other landside amenities.
This one has made a special effort to highlight the area’s traditions and culture. Since 2010, this boat launch has organized the cultural events like the “The legend of Nahual, Xochimilco” and “The Legend of the Volcanoes.” It’s definitely one of the better organized of all the various boat launches.
Their stated goals are working towards:
• The ecological rescue of this part of the Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
• To promote the broader culture as a fundamental part of the area’s educational and social development.
• To generation good jobs for the economic development of the Xochimilca people.
Perhaps, easiest to understand, this boat launch also runs it’s own website. That let’s you book ahead, and add on any extras you might want for the trip, right from the web-site. Visitors throwing bigger parties can book musicians here, too. You can also pre-purchase things like drinks and food. Of course, most international visitors are traveling in smaller parties, and for that you can just show up and pretty much get the same service at no additional cost.
Walking to the other boat launches is also just a matter of minutes.
