One of the most important cultural centers for the performing arts, Centro Cultural del Bosque (CCB) is in Chapultepec Forest and Park. The center is run by the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) and this center is directly behind the National Auditorium. With six theatres, a hall, a plaza, and a bookstore, it’s used extensively by the many dancers and musicians involved in its many comings and goings.
Over five decades of tradition in the teaching and enjoyment of culture, the CCB has become a leading space for the exhibition, promotion and development of the performing arts. Currently, the CCB also houses the National Dance Company, the Folkloric Dance School, the Chamber Orchestra of Fine Arts, and the offices of the Directorate General of the INBA.
Of particular note, the Plaza Ángel Sala is an outdoor theater with grandstand seating for 200 people. It’s used for theatre, the school of dance, film, a theatrical book fair, and other theatrical productions that run year-round. The Xavier Villaurrutia hall is a space for plays, music, dance, children’s shows, festivals, films, and conferences. The Centro Cultural del Bosque website runs ongoing posts of the many events sure to be taking place here.
