Azcapotzalco

Azcapotzalco is best remembered as the former capital of the Tepanec empire. The ancient Azcapotzalca people, Tepanecas, were among the most important rivals to the Mexica people of Tenochtitlan.

Their capital and altepetl, comparable to a city-state, was here.  Today, it's Mexico City's northwest, and an important gateway to the Valley of Mexico's crowded northwest suburbs.

Azcapotzalco, some of the oldest settled territory in Mexico City, is also home to 25 original neighborhoods of the ancient city. We're working to get all of them into these pages.

Azcapotzalco offers a terrific variety of museums, cultural centers, and historical points of interest. They're all listed below.
