Teatro San Rafael

The art deco letters on the marquee and the old façade are faithful testimony to the fact that this venue is part of the history of dramatic art in Mexico. It was the legendary actor Manolo Fábregas who promoted the construction of the San Rafael theater, with the intention of encouraging the participation of the private sector in the promotion of culture.

The building was designed by architect Carlos Herrera and opened its doors to the public in 1977. The inaugural work was a production of My Fair Lady by Allan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe.

The San Rafael Theatre has hosted highly successful plays such as Mentiras , Perfume de Gardenias and Cats, and is mainly used for musical theatre and comedy. It

is currently part of the Manolo Fábregas Theatre Centre, has a capacity for 1,389 seats and has a candy store, bar service and parking.
