Mirador Tlatelolco

The Mirador Tlatelolco is the sort of ultra-cool gallery that one hopes will stay open forever. By appointment only, it’s in one of the 24th-floor penthouse apartments of one of the remaining towers in historic Tlatelolco. And if for nothing else, it’s a great way to see not just panoramic views of the neighborhood, but one its historic high-rise buildings, too.

The gallery opened in 2023 as the work of architect, Rodrigo Torres. There’s a strong slant towards architecture and design in the works collected in the gallery, although you might see fine arts, painting and sculptures here too. It’s an impressive space all on its own. Torres opened the gallery to showcase the work of architect Mario Pani, too.

The Coahuila Building is one of just seven towers that remain from Pani’s master plan for the giant Nonoalco Tlatelolco Urban Housing Development.

The Mirador Tlatelolco is a young exhibition and research space. It’s also a space dedicated to continuing a dialogue with the artistic and architectural heritage of the broader neighborhood.

The Coahuila Building is right on the Paseo de Reforma, so getting here is easy too.  It’s practically facing the old Peralvillo Garrison, today the Indigenous People’s Museum and just beyond Pani’s fabulous Jardín de Santiago. So a trip here is always going to be loaded with things to do.
