Day 6 of a 7-Day Mexico City Travel Itinerary

Day 6 takes us to the longest continually inhabited section of Mexico City.

Culhuacan was a centuries-old city long before Tenochtitlan.
Today it's more than just a colonial monastery, though that's there too. It's a thriving part of Mexico City in the shadow of a mysterious volcano.
Up top, there's a museum to the ancient New Fire Ceremony. Centuries of human history reveal themselves in a nearby archaeological dig.
All this is just on one side of the famous Canal Nacional. Today, it's 12 kilometers of parks, sporting fields, and 18 different neighborhoods.
At it's southernmost point, the Canal opens out into the Xochimilco Ecological Park. Less natural, but nearby, the new Parque Antenas shopping center is just a few minutes to the east.
While repairs are made to Metro Line 12, most guests will arrive via Metro Tasqueña.
