East

Mexico City's east side includes the airport area, and all of Venustiano Carranza. Importantly, it also includes all of the two historical communities of Iztacalco and Iztapalapa.

These three represent some of the most densely populated parts of Mexico City. They're also terrific alt-tourism destinations, and especially for those wanting a taste of the "Real Mexico City."

The listings below include all of the most important sites. And there are many. And while both Iztacalco and Venustiano Carranza are almost entirely urban, the south eath of Iztapalapa is bordered along a giant chain of volcanos. Culture here, far from the city center, resembles agricultural and rural communities in Tlahuac, and further afield, to communities in neighboring states.
