Indonesian Embassy in Mexico City

The Indonesian Embassy in Mexico City is the main seat of the diplomatic mission of Indonesia to Mexico. They also run consulate offices in Cancún, Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Mexico Indonesia relations began only in 1953. That was just four years after the 1949 Indonesian National Revolution that ended Dutch colonial rule. In 2023, the 70-year anniversary of diplomatic relations was commemorated by both countries.

In fact, the history of contacts between the two peoples goes back through the period of the Manila-Acapulco Galleons. The Spanish-led shipping route saw untold numbers of people and goods move between the two hemispheres and the lands that would eventually become the two countries.

Today, both countries are members of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, the Forum of East Asia-Latin America Cooperation, the Group of 15, the G-20 major economies, and MIKTA (The Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia partnership). Both countries are also member nations in the United Nations and the World Trade Organization.

Trade between Mexico and Indonesia has risen steadily as the two have signed a number of important trade agreements. Mexico imports textiles, rubber, palm oil, and gold from Indonesia. They send back silver, copper, cotton, farm machinery and petroleum based products.

Indonesian Embassy Hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. tp 5 p.m.
