The Foro Sol is among the best-known concert and sports venues in Mexico City. With a capacity for some 37,500 spectators, another 25,000 will fit onto the floor for concerts and similar events.
The stadium began as mere temporary seating for the Hermanos Rodríguez Racetrack. The setup worked for Madonna, and later for Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones. In fact, it was so successful that the stands were installed permanently in time for Monster Trucks and David Bowie.
Then the idea came to offer baseball. The Mexico Diablos Rojos, a Triple-A minor league team, played 18 seasons here before moving to their own Alfredo Harp Helú stadium, just a stone’s throw away. While the Harp Helú finally offers everything a baseball stadium needs, Foro Sol is still best loved for its versatility. In offering concerts, music festivals, some performance and dance-heavy fairs, it’s among the best-loved and best attended venues in the city.
The Foro Sol is also a big draw for international visitors. Some of those multi-day music festivals and sporting events have bewildered English-only fans wandering around the city, or just the neighborhood, for days. And that’s part of the reason we hope you’ll share this app and website with them.
