Galería Alfredo Ginocchio

The Galería Alfredo Ginocchio opened in 1988 as the the Praxis México gallery. After 20 years, in 2008 the gallery was re-named for the director, Alfredo Ginocchio. With a principle objective of promoting Mexican and Latin American artists, the gallery has probably exceeded its mandate.

Over the course of these many years, the gallery has made a big statement at some 50 international art fairs. These have been in the United States, Europe, and in other Latin American countries. The gallery has also had a strong presence in the Zona MACO art fair in Mexico City. The gallery has hosted more than 130 individual and group exhibitions in Mexico City. They’ve also participated in the formation of art collections and collaborated with some of the City’s most important museums.

Dedicated especially to the neo-figuration in modern and contemporary art, it’s not the splashy, but they still offer a lot of splash.  Introducing newer and younger artists, the gallery has also held onto many important works from artists of preceding generations. With a strong emphasis on painting, the Galería Alfredo Ginocchio is still not a particularly “conservative” gallery, even for Polanco.
