Torre Manacar

The Torre Manacar is a 22-story skyscraper in the Insurgentes Mixcoac neighborhood. The total complex is about 180,000 square meters. Designed by the late Teodoro González de León, he’s best known for having designed the MUAC Museum in Ciudad Universitaria, and the Rufino Tamayo Museum.

Having opened just in July, 2017, it’s one of the city’s newest shopping, retail, and office complexes. At present there are about 26 retail tenants, seven restaurants and another 20 or so food options. The parking garage is built for 2,700 vehicles on 11 levels.

Major retailers include Cinemex Premium, H&M, Forever 21, Massimo Dutti, Tommy Hilfiger, iShop/Mixup, Innovasport, Sephora, Scappino, Benetton, Calzedonia and American Eagle Outfitters

The main lobby of the Torre Manacar has a height of some 30 meters, a bright introduction to some of the area’s shopping and entertainment. The architect also had preserved and reinstalled a mural that had previously displayed in the old Manacar Tower on the same site. (That building was badly damaged and demolished after the 1985 earthquake.) The mural, Los Danzantes, can be viewed within the complex and was completed by the artist Carlos Mérida in 1961.

The Turibus South Circuit stop is on the south side of the complex on the Avenida Río Mixcoac. Note that Turibus stops in BOTH DIRECTIONS here. So you’ll want to note the direction of the bus before boarding.
