Inaugurated in 2010, the Bicentenario Park is, above all, the home of an enormous orchid farm. The park was inaugurated to commemorate the 100 years of the beginning of the Mexican Revolution and the 200 years of the Mexican War of Independence. It was a massive industrial land reclamation project to rehabilitate plots long contaminated by the oil refinery.
Today, it is a huge green space and a popular neighborhood park. More than anything, visitors come to admire the almost 1,300 species of orchids. About 40% of them are native to Mexico and make any trip to the Bicentenario Park a fascinating and even inspiring experience.
The Bicentenario Park orchid garden is home to more than 7,000 orchids and specializes in their cultivation, preservation, and exhibition. The plants, in addition to being beautiful, require very specific temperature and humidity conditions, which is why greenhouses are indispensable.
The vast green infrastructure is complemented as a favorite outdoor location to host jazz, pop, and youth urban music festivals.
Hours: The park and its facilities operate from Tuesday to Sunday from 07:00 to 18:00 hrs (Subject to and with massive format night extensions on dates of festivals and event rentals).
How to get there?: The parallel metropolitan station Refinería (Metro Line 7) functions just a few sidewalk steps away in its descent to the front green perimeter entrance. Direct RTP metropolitan transport service routes or urban routes smoothly travel flat perimeters to the closely adjacent parallel avenue Aquiles Serdán next to the access.
