The CENART National Center for the Arts (CENART) is 12-hectare campus on Rio Churubusco. It’s been the national school for all kinds of arts, artistic education and promotion since 1994.

The Churubusco campus is a place of professional education, research, creation, and more. It’s also a frequent host to modern and contemporary artists, in galleries that include the Juan Soriano gallery, Arte Eléctrico, Galería Esmeralda, Espacio Alternativo Esmeralda, Galería A/B, Galería Espacio Alternativo and the Galería Central.

Musicians, dancers, and performers are not left out. No fewer than 12 stages are found both indoors and out. Each specifically designed to present concerts, recitals, stage plays, and dance performances. These range from the intimate to mass audience events.

The campus is also an important exhibition space for many of the country’s most prominent architects. Among the buildings are those by Ricardo Legorreta, Teodoro González de León, Enrique Norten, Luis Vicente Flores, Javier Calleja, Alfonso López Baz, and Javier Sordo Madaleno.

The CENART campus is home to five professional art schools:

The INBAL, the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature, also has four National Research Centers on the campus:

  • Music (CENIDIM)
  • Theater (CITRU)
  • Dance (CENIDI-DANZA)
  • Visual Arts (CENIDIAP)

There’s also a research and training space dedicated to technological media called the Multimedia Center (Centro Multimedia CMM)

Check the CENART events calendar if you plan to visit as there’s nearly always something going on.
