INBAL

Mexico's Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (The National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature), is the national institution of artistic and cultural activities active across the country. It's official headquarters is the Palacio de Bellas Artes, but in fact, it has a presence at dozens of other locations across Mexico City and the county.

Created in 1946, it began as a branch of the Secretary of Public Education. Today fully independent, it includes artistic ensembles, 29 schools and much more. The INBAL also works closely with the INAH (The National Institute of Anthropology and History) to preserve and protect the cultural patrimony of the country. The INBAL is entrusted with artistic buildings and monuments (those of significant aesthetic value).

We've listed many of the Mexico City locations where INBAL is the primary actor, and a few where the Institute just has an interest. Among all of them, you'll find much to see and experience.
