Aura Galerías has been a fixture in the Mexico City art scene for some 40 years. Having established itself as a group of experts, appraisers, and high-profile artists, the gallery focuses on Mexican artists, with a good sampling of international guest artists making appearances. The focus is old-school, high-quality, and frequently blue-chip.

While the gallery emphasizes paintings and sculptures in bronze, the reputation is for a deep archive of unusual and hard-to-find works. If not from obscure artists, some of the works are most exciting for having been little viewed or appreciated since their creation, mostly over the past century.

The gallery is very active in organizing events for collectors and for the public in general. And while appointments are appreciated, on most days passersby can stop in unannounced. The gallery also runs an unusual rental program that allows patrons to “try out” works in their own spaces. During the 2020 pandemic, the gallery truly stood out for an ongoing series of virtual events to involve an ever more distant audience in the work, and the artists, and the gallery. During troubled times, nothing stands out like art. Aura Galerías has proven that over four solid decades.
