Boulevard Puerto Aéreo

Metro Boulevard Puerto Aéreo is not the Metro for the airport. The closest Metro for the airport is Metro Terminal Aérea on Metro Line 5.

This station was in fact called Metro Aeropuerto from 1969 until 1996. It was, until the opening of Line 5, the closest station to the terminal. The name was changed in 1997.

The station is at the intersection (and roundabout) of the Circuito Interior, here called Boulevard Puerto Aéreo, with the Calazada Ignacio Zaragoza.

That station logo is a graphic depiction of the boulevard crossing over the Metro station, as shown in the photo above.

The station can be very confusing to enter and exit if you’re not doing it everyday (as most passengers here will be doing).  There are six entrances/exits and these correspond to six surrounding neighborhoods.

  1. Santa Cruz Aviación to the north.
  2. Ignacio Zaragoza, to the west of the station (bow-tie shaped, it continues south of Gómez Farías, too)
  3. Industrial Puerto Aéreo, east of the station, and including the Walmart complex. This is the only one that’s not a residential neighborhood.
  4. Valentín Gómez Farías, to the south of the station.
  5. Jardín Balbuena (1 & 2), which begins the Unidad Kennedy housing complex, is just to the west.
  6. The Colonia Federal is just to the east beyond Walmart.

The Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza is at least nominally pedestrian friendly, with major bus stops on both sides.
