Libraries

Mexico City's libraries & archives are often as old as the City itself. In fact, Mexico City welcomes researchers from all over the globe. With good reason. Many of the records kept here are unique in Latin America and the world. Below is a running guide to the archives and libraries in the city.

Most of the collections require the use of face masks and gloves, so you'll want to bring those with you.

There are also access restrictions specific to nearly every archive in the city. Most of those referred to as "libraries" allow for general public access, except for special collections. Most of those referred to as "archives" will have their own standards for checking accreditation.

We've done our best to describe at least the initial procedures for gaining access, but as always, these are subject to change.
