Located in the vicinity of the Magdalena Mixiuhca sports polygon, the National Center for Talent Development and High Performance (CNAR) is the main athletic excellence complex operated by the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE). Inaugurated in 2006, this venue was conceived with the objective of centralizing the preparation of national teams and athletes with Olympic projection, providing them with avant-garde facilities unique in Latin America.
The complex operates under a full-time concentration model that merges sporting excellence with academic training and scientific support. The facilities are designed so that young talents can live, study (from middle school to high school), and train without leaving the premises. For this purpose, it features dormitory areas, specialized dining halls, and an extraordinary center for Sports Medicine and Applied Sciences equipped with biomechanics laboratories for the technical perfection of every movement.
The sports infrastructure of the CNAR is divided into eleven highly specialized pavilions. It highlights its aquatic complex equipped with a 50-meter Olympic pool and a diving pit with a dry gym; an indoor velodrome with a wooden track that meets the strictest international standards; and a combat pavilion where the national taekwondo, judo, fencing, and associated wrestling teams train daily under the guidelines of the best coaches in the country.
In addition, the venue houses synthetic athletics tracks, shooting ranges with electronic targets, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics pavilions with internationally approved apparatus, as well as a two-level physical conditioning gym ranked among the best in the world for its technological deployment. It is in these spaces that many of the world and Olympic medalists who have made history for Mexico in recent decades have been polished and perfected.
How to get there: Its location on Eje 3 Sur (Añil) facilitates access via the UPIICSA station (Metrobús Line 2), which is located just a few minutes’ walk away. As underground alternatives, the Velódromo and Ciudad Deportiva stations (Metro Line 9) allow for a quick pedestrian approach crossing the vicinity of the Magdalena Mixiuhca.
