The Perfume Museum (Museo del Perfume, MUPE by its Spanish acronym) is located at 12 Tacuba Street, in the Historic Center area of Mexico City, in a mansion built in the late 19th century. It is a venue dedicated to promoting the culture of perfume and aromas in Mexico. This conceptual and immersive space encourages cultural and artistic exchange through the study, history, and sensory experience of perfume offering interactive exhibits that appeal to visitors of all ages.
MUPE holds more than 4,000 items related to the world of perfumery. Its collection includes original containers from some of the oldest and most renowned perfume houses and brands, glass perfume bottles noted for their design, as well as laboratory instruments used in the creation of fragrances. In addition, objects for cosmetic and personal care use, such as powder compacts, soaps, and mirrors, are also on display. The information is presented in an educational and accesible way, addressing both the history of perfume and its chemical processes, types of aromas, and their evolution over time.
Tickets can be purchased through its website or directly at the ticket office. Likewise, the venue provides a phone number and an email address to answer questions. MUPE is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and offers discounts for students, teachers, and INAPAM beneficiaries. The museum is accessible to people with disabilities and features an on-site shop where perfumes can be purchased. Workshops are also offered at an additional cost.
