Domo del Deportivo Plan Sexenal

Located in the Miguel Hidalgo borough, very close to important communication routes of the city and a few steps from the Popotla Metro station, this venue is immersed in an area with deep neighborhood roots that combines residential tranquility with the intense community activity of the western zone.

The historic Deportivo Plan Sexenal was inaugurated in 1938 as part of the social infrastructure projects promoted by President Lázaro Cárdenas. Within this complex stands out its imposing Dome, a geodesic roof structure that transformed the vocation of the sports center by providing it with a high-capacity indoor multi-sports gym.

Its robust metal cover allows for an immense interior space, free of columns, designed to accommodate thousands of spectators in its side grandstands. This design has consolidated it as an indispensable forum for competitions that require total climate protection and a high acoustic pressure environment.

The dome stands out in the city as a frequent venue for the Mexican Open of Olympic Wrestling, National Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, Karate Tournaments, as well as dynamic skills exhibitions organized by the NBA. This versatility places it on the map of high-performance sports tourism on a national scale.

Beyond the major championships, the dome fulfills a vital formative function from Monday to Sunday. Its indoor courts host scheduled classes in basketball, volleyball, figure skating, and physical conditioning.

How to get there: The Popotla station (Metro Line 2) is located just a few minutes’ walk away, offering a direct, fast, and highly secure pedestrian route to the main doors of the sports center.
