Our history
The Andrés Soler Institute was a dream, a challenge. Now it is an achievement of daily dedication, will and vocation. There is no destiny that is not the product of clear objectives, of a fighting spirit.

We are a school established in the generous need to train actors that, in 1951, the Soler brothers, Jorge Negrete, and Rodolfo Landa, had with the nation. On June 11th they opened the doors to a performing arts center where the training of dramatic artists is a priority. The Andrés Soler Institute during the first months was directed by the actor Fernando Soler, however, due to the demand for his artistic work he had to leave the management to his brother and first actor Andrés Soler, for 19 years the institute was excellently directed, having as its headquarters an old mansion in the Roma neighborhood.

As director of our institution, Andrés Soler always showed great impetus and dedication, he never gave up in his work as director of the institution, his dedication was so great that he managed to promote the IAS nationally and internationally, always ensuring the necessary talent and artistic preparation with the academic faculty with great personalities and professors of the scene, such as: Ignacio Retes, Enrique Retes, Rodolfo Usigli, Alejandro Jodorowski, Seki Sano, Barbara Gil, Roberto Mitzuko, Xavier Rojas, Carlos Bracho, Óscar Ledezma, Antonio González Caballero, among others. After 19 years of hard work leading the Institute, Andrés Soler dies at the age of 70, leaving behind a constellation of those who have graduated from our school, actually more than a thousand actors.

Years later, after 34 years, as a result of the damage caused by the 1985 earthquake, the Andrés Soler Institute never stopped and continued its educational model in other locations granted by the Ministry of Public Education and the National Association of Actors.

How can we mention so many valuable beings who have contributed to national and international art over the past 70 years? Mentioning Veronica Castro, Hector Suarez, Jacqueline Andere, Erick del Castillo, Ana Luisa Pelufo, Renato de la Riva, Lucha Villa, Mario Castaneda, Daniela Romo, Roberto Blandon, Aaron Hernan, Carlos Bracho, Laura Zapata, Ernesto Laguardia, Angelica Maria, Manuel Castillo, Beatriz Sheridan, Oscar Narvaez, Kitty de Hoyos, Maricruz Olivier, Irma Serrano, Marco Zetina, Tere and Lorena Velazquez, Victoria Ruffo, Victor Zeuz, Maria Elena Saldana, Gonzalez Correa, Monica Miguel, Enrique Alvarez Felix, Maria Sorte, Ricardo Hill, Raquel Garza, Julio Aleman, Luz Maria Aguilar, Tenoch Huerta, Ana Bertha Espin, Alberto Estrella, Raquel Pankowsky, Jose Elias and Beatriz Moreno, Cesar Bono, Mercedes Pascual, Alejandro Suarez are just some of the professionals who have transcended with his work, in memory, putting into practice what he learned at the Andrés Soler Institute.

For 35 years our headquarters has been located in the Narvarte neighborhood, Peten street 45, and it is where we show our work, receiving visitors who want to enroll in the school; and graduates, who want to tour the facilities of our center. The latest generations of graduates know about our old house and its tradition. Graduates from other locations are surprised by the theater built thanks to generous contributions and the 10 work rooms for dance, singing, makeup, acting and our own booth for professional recordings.

Day by day we promote values such as the drive for creation, self-knowledge and dramatic mastery, being ethical and disciplined, because we know that a great human being will be a great actor.

Over the course of 70 years, we have made history on the stage and we continue this project that was promoted by great acting institutions in Mexico: Jorge Negrete, Rodolfo Landa, Fernando and Andrés Soler, Xavier Rojas, Óscar Ledezma, José Angel Espinoza “Ferrusquilla”, Luis Gimeno, Miguel Córcega, Bárbara Gil, Eric del Castillo, just to mention some of the personalities who have contributed to acting pedagogy in Mexico.

With 70 years of experience training real actors, the Andrés Soler Institute puts in your hands an educational proposal that ensures sufficient acting innovation, responding to the demands that the art and entertainment industry currently requests, offering complete and comprehensive training to be able to act in any possibility where fiction can happen, in any style, genre or stage proposal.

In an atmosphere of peace and discipline, the perfect space for the actor’s inner moment is created. The one that manages to overcome the conditions to reach the staging, in theater, cinema, television, dubbing, digital platforms or any space where fiction happens; it breaks through the silence, calms the nerves and penetrates the imagination with concentration, to resize the special moment in the character’s life, making it unique and irreplaceable.

An actor who inspires, moves, makes us remember, slows down time, suspends it, like a magician, to change everything between inspiration and exhalation. Flow and act with the spectator who travels with our student. We do seasons of academic productions: they give the student experience, they learn production, marketing and achieve dramatic progression through repetition, scenography, lighting and costumes at a sustainable academic level. He proves his research worked on in the academic processes that contribute to interpreting and characterizing characters, a fundamental task of the actor, because at Andrés Soler, we seek to train actors of excellence for the scene in all its possibilities. We thus confirm that at the Andrés Soler Institute our graduates know their opportunities and areas of opportunity, with this our graduates are, know how to be and do for themselves and the scene they represent. After 70 years of experience training true actors, the Andrés Soler Institute is today a tradition.
