Ticoman Area

Located on the slopes of the Sierra de Guadalupe, Ticomán is a territory where the most remote origins of the basin meet academic avant-garde.

Its history dates back to the Preclassic period, consolidating itself as one of the first sedentary villages in the Valley of Mexico.

Today, this polygon with great neighborhood tradition vibrates with incessant energy thanks to the presence of the main campus of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), an institution that defines the dynamism and youthful spirit of the entire northern zone.

The artistic heritage flourishes in spaces that escape conventional tourist circuits, highlighting the Antonio Rodríguez Gallery with its art and technology exhibitions.

Public art is the indisputable protagonist of the landscape; the famous sculpture La juventud (The Youth) by Francisco Zúñiga stands as a symbol of progress in front of the student community.

At the same time, the colossal Homenaje a los trabajadores del drenaje profundo (Tribute to the deep drainage workers)—created by Ángela Gurría in 1975 using huge concrete pipes—surprises the visitor with its monumental aesthetics of industrial heritage.

Modernity in mobility has transformed the way of experiencing this historic territory through Cablebús Line 1.
The aerial journey allows you to fly over the academic facilities and the labyrinthine neighborhoods, gifting unparalleled panoramic views of the Zacatenco and Tenayo hills.
