Gran Canal Area

The Gran Canal Area is today one that's developing quickly. Surrounding the enormous new Gran Canal Linear Park Avenida Fénix, some 12 different neighborhoods might be included in the area.

All of these colonias are within Venustiano Carranza, although there are plans to extend well northward into Gustavo A. Madero. Some plans even call for directly connecting the linear park with the Bosque de Aragon.

For decades, the area and residents were largely neglected. But the City recovered the abandoned canal which otherwise couldn't really be developed. Today it's a park, with green areas, skate ramps, paths for cycling and jogging, and lots of areas for dogs, too.

The broader area is still densely populated. But today it's reinvigorated, and streets seem wider. Trees can almost call to one another. Most international visitors will want to visit the park itself, but the pages below will show you that there's lots more, even just a few blocks away.
