Doctores & Obrera

The Colonias Doctores and Obrera represent the southeast of the Cuauhtémoc alcaldía, while most international visitors will stay in the southwest.  Condesa and Roma have long dominated the hotel and lodging industry, but the success and economic pressures of the neighborhoods has pushed eastward.

The number of up-n-coming and aspirational businesses across this stretch of Mexico City has skyrocketed. Not just with art galleries and espresso joints, today the south of Cuauhtémoc boasts viable, livable neighborhoods, charming streets, and safe outdoor recreation area.

The two big neighborhoods shown are cushioned on their east sides by the colonias Transito, Esperanza, Paulino Navarro, Vista Alegre, and Asturias in the very southeast corner. Along the south are Buenos Aires and Algarín, famous city-wide for custom printing. That follows decades of the area's reputation as a light manufacturing center, but also one that provided early housing for industrial workers.

Striking out from Condesa or Roma and heading east means you'll encounter dozens of residential streets all the way to La Viga that delineates the alcaldía's southeast border with Venustiano Carranza, Iztacalco. Benito Juaréz lies just to the south.
